"Momo chan" the name she is affectionately known by came to us luckily in September 2005. This was our very first visit to Momotaro and we would never have imagined the opportunity to purchase their #1 sansai (3 year old) of 2005. Generally, new customers to a breeder's farm usually are shown the third and forth picks and if you are lucky their #2 selections. Amongst the generous hospitality of Momotaro we were truly fortunate for the offer to purchase her.

Momo chan as sansai was a slender 65cm (25.6"). We knew that she had the potential to grow large. From the 2005 to 2007 season she has been raised in Momotaro's 1500 ton pond. The pictures above show the significant change to her body mass. Impressive ly, although her body has gained much girth her beni quality and pattern have remained untainted. From this 2008 season and on we will concentrate on her length. She will be moved to the mud pond where we will challange her to surpass 85cm as rokusai (6 years old).

Another first is, this showa was his #1 nisai (2 year old) in November 2006 and to date is still the #1 koi in the history of the farm.
